Tasmania Episode III - Huon's Trail
we spent the whole day on this trail coz it's a long long trail... even then, we din manage to cover everything we wanted to see... so sad...
Hartz Mountain
unfortunately, we din manage to go up to Hartz Mountain as planned... u'll soon learn why...
we stopped over at a place called Arve Falls... and we thought we knew what to expect when we saw the snow on the ground... but hey! we got more than what we expected man!! we knew it'll be damn cold and so got our coldwear all ready (girls only la... e guys din prepare much cold gear coz they act macho ma!)... then we got outta e car and then suddenly, some white stuff started flying towards us... hitting our faces, our hair... and i raised up my hands to let some of them land on my palms and realized those r FALLING SNOW!!! (pardon my suku-ness but it was my FIRST time seeing falling snow!) i was ecstatic!!! and started jumping up n down, screaming at the top of my voice... "FALLING SNOW! FALLING SNOW! I'M SEEING SNOW!!" hahaha! liling soon joined me upon realization...
but... oh oh... it means the temp must be zero degrees or below... despite becoming frozen, we ran into this walking trail that'll lead us to Arve Falls! all e time, it was snowing on us and we saw how the grass slowly turned from green to spottie whites to totally white! and the rocks also started having white caps on... so pretty!!! and when we walked on the wooden pathway, we get to imprint our footsteps on the layer of snow! we even picked up a bit of snow to taste it... haha!! like ice kachang!! super pure n flaky! liling couldn't resist making some snow ball fight at kenneth n me... haha! SNOW!! can't believe we caught it!
reached the Arve Falls and quickly took a few photos before we froze to death... and ran back to our car! ken was quick to note that our car may not be fitted with e heating device, so e engine may stall if we stay in this cold place for too long, n with the falling snow and strong wind, frosty roads, we're afraid going up e mountain may be too hazardous... so we gave e mountain a miss... after all, we've all been rewarded sumptously with this phenomenal experience... pretty contented!
e problem with having e highlight so early in e day is the rest of e day pales in comparison! haha! after tt, we had a few scenic drives along the huon river and some lookouts n stuff... nothing much liao... wanted to go to e Hastings Caves but must pay admission fees 19.50 plus we reached there only at about 3... a bit wasted if we pay so much n spend only 1 hour there...
we also had to abandon a 4-hr walk to the southern cape bay which is the southern tip of tasmania... closest to antartica... coz it was getting dark n we noticed the roads back din even haf reflectors to guide us along e roads. totally dangerous...
although we couldn't complete a lot of stuff on this trail, we all agreed tt it was still very very worth it!! haha!!
